Vintage Renaissance Meets Modern Romanticism

Designer Amanda He

According to Amanda He, the gorgeous designer of Rocaille Jewellery, the name refers to “a whimsical, opulent and romantic artistic style that originated in 18th century Europe.”  Oh really? How fab! Fashion and art are one in the same and Amanda has created an artistic concept, that not only compliments your couture garb, but feeds your need for complete originality. Who wants to see someone else on the red carpet wearing the same “borrowed” necklace? Rocaille is comprised of two different collections, one of which is one of a kind! Not only that, but each reworked piece has a collectible signifcance and a story all its own.

Being the thrift-whores that we are, Fashion de arte HEARTS Amanda’s antique/heirloom statement pieces and we especially have the HAUTES for…

The Zoe-III

An heirloom bracelet with five vintage charms – a navy anchor, a heart shape cameo, a faux pearl crown charm, a clear rhinestone flower and a small aurora borealis rhinestone charm.

Boudica

This edgy necklace stars a bold Aries ram with large curled horns pendant by Celebrity NY (c 1970), hung from multiple gold and silver-tone vintage chains.  The ram pendant is an exquisitely crafted piece with fine facial and horn details.

Amalie

This dramatic bib necklace is opulent and edgy.  A heavy ornate choker (c 1950) is the frame of the necklace with multiple vintage chains layered below. A sparking rhinestone pendant c 1930 is featured in the center.

Agnes

This statement necklace is an array of faceted grey quartz and bold vintage embellishments – large silver tone chain interlaced with a gold tone woven chain and two Art Deco rhinestones necklaces, adorned with an ornamental flower earring c 1920.

In the words of Rachel Zoe…BA-NANAS! Ha.

Levi’s Goes Eco Fabulous with WaterLess Denim

levi-jeans

Eco-Fashionistas! Reduce your water footprint!

Pssst….Did you know that the average pair of jeans uses about 42 liters of water in the finishing process (wash, dry, repeat)?  Levi’s new WaterLess collection reduces the water consumption by an average of 28%, with some new products by as much as 96%. The first WaterLess products will hit stores in January and will include over a dozen classics from 501s, 511s, to 514s.  The spring 2011 product lines will debut more than 1.5 million pairs of jeans made with the WaterLess method, saving more than 4 million gallons of water. Even better, the “old school” rigid finish Levi’s use virtually no water in their production. Now that’s ecoCHIC!

According to  Carl Chiara (Director, Levi’s Brand Concepts & Special Projects), “What’s cool is that we’re still using the same materials and techniques to create the same great styles and finishes our customers love – and that we love, too – but we’ve reduced water’s role.”

She Died of Beauty

Erin O’Connor is a model, turned fashion designer who recently launched a capsule collection (along with friend, Kate Halfpenny) of statement tees and bags called She Died of Beauty. We HEART the “She Died of Perfection” tee and even better, they are sustainable.  The homepage of their website, simply states, “there is no reason why style and conscience can’t co-exist!” We concur.
