We all know how much I love new things in fashion and my appreciation for new labels that are starting out. There is something about the passion from a new brand that attracts me and makes me excited. So you can only imagine my excitement when I discovered that a chappy I have known for a little while has, along with his partner, created a brand that is fresh and exciting catering to the “urban gentleman”. Hailing from London, Nomadic People is an exciting new brand which creates everything from wallets and key chains to backpacks, throwing in made to order iPad cases and such delights to the mix.

The tan leather contrast against the black used in most of the pieces I have seen offer an understated air of sophistication with an edge of rugged earthiness that is simple yet effective!

The guys hard at work

It’s needless to say that I can’t wait to see what this brand has in store for the world in the future.

Keep up to date with the happenings over at Nomadic People by checking out the website: www.nomadic-people.com , following the guys on twitter @nomadicpeopleUK @t_offthewALL and @joeynomadic and like the Facebook page

Where fashion lacks practicality, FASHIONids comes in to give stylish accessories functionality. The necklaces, created by Mark Fina and Terry Gibralter, are specifically designed to carry your company ID while expressing individual style.

Based in New York, these two Grey Advertising colleagues began this artistic venture very recently when Terry complained that her work ID clashed too much with her outfit. Mark suggested making her own jewelry to work with her style and carry her ID, and this was how FASHIONids came to be. They brought fashion to Grey and now take orders to ship anyone their own.

With an “eclectic, colorful, detailed” style, Terry maintains the importance that jewelry is “never an afterthought,” and she is even often inspired  to create a whole outfit around one accessory.

Terry explains that “FASHIONids design not only for women but also men who love the idea of wearing something creative everyday that expresses who they are and of course those that want their company idea close at hand!”

When designing, Terry keeps in mind jewelry she already owns or pieces she wishes she did, and remembers that jewelry comes first and ID holder second. She tries to think of inventive and beautiful ways to put found objects like stones, shells, buttons, charms and feathers together. But if a customer asks for something different, they are open to everything to make truly unique FASHIONids.

The pair admits that they don’t really design in the traditional sense, drawing the ID out on paper or anything like that. “I just come up with a concept and then sit down and put the elements together at my work station. Mark puts them together too. Sometimes we work together but more often separately. It’s really fun and I love making them–the struggle is finding the time. Also if we ever got a large order we’d have to figure out how to get them made”, Terry says.

Her inspiration? Vintage, collected vintage and modern jewelry, and other jewelry designers such as Justin Gunta, Tom Binns,  Fenton, Philip Crangi.

FashionIDs can be viewed on www.fashionids.com and on twitter @FASHIONids. For purchases, contact terry@fashionids.com. You can even customise your own necklace and specify which materials you would like! Arrangements will be made to ship your own FASHIONid to you.

Polyvore Addicted? Design Your Way to Fashion Week!!

FASHION 2.0 Yaaaaaas!!!

Accessories designer Rebecca Minkoff is staging her first show at New York Fashion Week next month, and she’s turning to online styling community Polyvore to find a stylist for the show!

You have until the morning of January 24th. Users can create fashion collages with pieces from Minkoff’s spring collection and submit them to the contest. Minkoff will select her favorite look and fly the winner to New York City for three days to help her style the show. He or she will also have a seat in the audience during the event.

The lucky winner may possibly be seated next to the winner of another recent Minkoff-sponsored contest on Polyvore, in which more than 4,000 users competed to design the brand’s next “morning after clutch” using photographs of materials selected by Minkoff herself. The winning clutch will go on sale this spring under the Rebecca Minkoff label.

Polyvore is just one of the many platforms the brand has recently begun leveraging to engage users online. Minkoff recently named former independent fashion blogger Daniel Saynt the new Chief Marketing Officer for the company. Previously, Saynt consulted with Minkoff and a number of more established brands, including Burberry and Louis Vuitton, on social media initiatives, and is now pushing the company onto new platforms.

Saynt is working aggressively to align Minkoff with the creators of what he sees as the next generation of media, mainly by developing partnerships with blog networks such as Bloglovin, as well as individual fashion bloggers. In addition to branded promotions, chosen bloggers are now invited to borrow Rebecca Minkoff accessories for everyday use, a privilege previously limited to celebrities and the editors of major magazines.

Hey Guys!

A few months ago my friend Naaman and I were shopping in Topshop Oxford circus.

Going along our merry little way, we stubbled across a collection that blew us both away!

KTZ “Bijoux”

This is the piece that got us both whipped!!

I literally had this jacket on in the store for about half an hour while

Naaman and I weighed up the pros and cons of buying it,

discussed what a bad bitchana I looked in it and trying to take pictures of me in it (failing miserably)

We got talking to one of the shop assistants and when she revealed that there were only 3 in the store at one time and two had already

been sold, it made me want this little treasure more!

I dreamed of this jacket for a few weeks after and Naaman and I agreed that the sick feeling

was mutual whenever we thought about it having been neglected by us!

THEN…

To my DISMAY about two weeks ago I came across these images!

*Massive sad face*

WTH is going on….???

A perfectly beautiful jacket RUINED by poor styling! The Boots, The trousers… it’s just wrong!

A skintight one piece or body-con, leggings and a bra/cropped top, there were so many possibilities so why this??

I’m really upset about this… like really really upset… I am not one to slate someones style but I’m shaking my head… BIG TIME! :(

ANYWAY

Here are a few more pics of the collection

pretty good right!

With statement pieces like this styling has to be on point!!!! Be daring, don’t be daft ;-)

and one word of advice… don’t overkill, one piece at a time is enough!
