TOLETTA- Have No Fear, The Pee’s on Us!

toletta I

Take a look at the newest high-fashion couture dress to hit the runway. It’s uniquely crafted, with intricate details within the fringes and the collar creates a unique design. There is no doubt this dress is high-fashion. But what’s the catch? Well the only material used in this design is toilet seat covers. Yes, you heard me correctly. Not only can people say you are full of sh*t you can actually look the part too!

TOLETTA, a Canadian manufacturer put fashion designer, Laura Dreger up for the challenge. She was to design the world’s first couture paper dress from disposable toilet seat covers. This is definitely one way to promote a product. Are people starting to use the “squat” method instead of taking the time to line their toilet seat?

In an article in Marie Claire Magazine Dreger said, “The dress took me over 100 hours to make and required more than 520 seat covers. When the idea was presented to me I said yes because I knew it would be fun and unique. Besides, it’s not every day that I get to be the first in the world to make a paper dress from disposable toilet seat covers.”

Would you wear it? Well, Lindsay Goff would! Goff is the campaign’s model who is also competing for Miss Canada 2011 and the face of Lady Venom Cosmetics.

According to the TOLETTA brand, it is a niche product that markets to women ages 20-45 who care about their personal hygiene in public bathrooms. A percentage of the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research (pink packs) and Child Poverty Awareness (blue packs). Tissues are made from large sheets of 3ply toilet paper which are 20% larger and 42% thicker than other brands plus they’re flushable and biodegradable. Each pack contains 5 toilet seat covers and retails for $2.49 – $3.49 USD. This is one company that I do not foresee being flushed down the toilet anytime soon.

Despite the possibility of the dress being extremely see through and making a noisy grand entrance the plus side is you would be incredibly sanitary! You just better hope it doesn’t rain. So the next time you cover-up the bacteria invested public toilet seat, reach for a TOLETTA sheet and just imagine the possibilities.

Alexander McQueen Tribute Pump

faaaab shoe

Fashion blogger, Kelly Mcintosh was so inspired by Alexander McQueen that when he passed away, she wanted to personally make a donation to his foundation. When she found out that there was no such charity, she did the next best thin and created a pair of shoes in his honor. This is not just any shoe fashionistas and gentlemen, check out these one of a kind, handmade pair of 6 inch feather pumps with red insole and gold guilded brocade heel.

According to Mcintosh, “Alexander has been such an inspiration to me for so many years, and his death felt so personal to myself even though I’ve never met him. He was an artist but not just because of his clothing but become he created a world/fantasy that really took you places. Whether it was under the sea or within a chess game, it was amazing.

Definitely inspiring and creative! I know all of our fashion styling readers are going crazy right now. Although they were created last fall, these pumps are still for sale. Is the $650 price tag suitable? What do you think guys and dolls?

Madame Tussaud: Goo Goo For Gaga

Perez Hilton Unveils Lady Gaga's Wax Figure At Madame Tussauds Hollywood

The wax version of Lady Gaga was recently unveiled at Hollywood’s Madame Tussaids. We must say, the $300,000 (gasp) wax figure looks pretty lifelike; gigantic couture hair and all. Gaga fans were given the opportunity to vote on what kind of clothing they wanted her to wear. There are a total of 8 Gaga installations at Madame Tussauds Wax Museums around the world, so needless to say, Lady Gaga is dressed in a different look in every city.  At the London museum, the she rocks  a wide-shouldered navy Armani suit with a Philip Treacy telephone hat, but in New York, she’s in a fashionable black dress and a wide-brimmed hair hat.  Love how they got the fans involved!

Now as for Perez Hilton’s pink striped get up…..just as appauling as the fact that Lady Gaga no-showed at the event!

The Costume Institute at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced it is to stage an exhibition to honour the late Alexander McQueen, with Francois-Henri Pinault of Gucci Group as one of the honorary chairs.

Called Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, the exhibition will be on view from May 4 through July 31, 2011 and will encompass all of his work, from his Central Saint Martins postgrad collection in 1992 to his final runway presentation this past February.

“McQueen had such a singular voice and he was a remarkable technician. He really was one of the most provocative voices of the past 30 years in fashion. His catwalk presentations were outstanding and spans both art and fashion”. He continued, “We want to get across two elements – the spectacle of the runway presentations and the beauty of his craftsmanship,” said the MET’s Andrew Bolton.
